Ethnography Museums

Ethnography is a branch of anthropology that examines culture in its ethnically distinct forms. Most of the former Soviet republics and Communist states were multi-ethnic. Although the Communists waffled between celebrating diversity and attempting assimilate the cultures, ethnography remained a strong and politically practical academic field. Museums of this type were often founded under Communism and remain common across this part of the world.
