Historic Districts

Historic districts in cities serve as living narratives of a culture, encapsulating architectural styles, urban planning, and historical places. Often these areas also contain monuments and plaques that further illustrate their historical and cultural importance. These districts are often specially preserved via special zoning ordinances and government funds. In other words, in addition to be functioning public areas, they also serve as curated exhibitions of a people’s historical narrative.
